Friday - The Trinket Trail and Trevor Linden
It's been quite a day today so I decided not to wait until Sunday for a "bits from our weekend" post to put up these photos. Today was a PRO D at school which meant the kids were home all day. Our landlady/friend Susie, who took me on this hike, had suggested the Trinket Trail when kids could join so today was the day. The rain acutally stopped and off we went joined by Oscker, Brenna, Diggy and Neve. Round trip, the hike took us about an hour and a half with stops to admire the trinkets along the way and to share some banana bread at the Fairy Circle. It was mostly uphill, very dark and a little wet from all the rain lately but the kids LOVED the hike and wouldn't mind another journey with another trinket to add to the trail. The other great thing about it is that it's not far from our place so I imagine another trip will happen sooner than later.
Once we returned from the hike we headed to town for some lunch then off to meet Trevor Linden. I won a radio contest which allowed Jackson the opportunity to play road hockey with the former Canuck. The sun even came out for a bit while the games were on. It was warm and quite a crowd came out to watch the lucky kids who were chosen. I also won another contest on FB for a private meet and greet/autograph session with Mr. Linden later in the evening. Jackson was one pumped up, super excited, happy kid. I've mentioned his passion for hockey before so getting to do this today was like a dream.
It was a great day, a perfect way to start the weekend. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Hopefully a little more of that sunshine.
