"a portrait of, and quote from my children, once a week, every week, in 2015"
Jackson: I'm thrilled to say that he's become a bit of a bookworm lately and all it took was finding the right read for him. I believe he's read 3 Percy Jackson novels already this year and I couldn't be happier. He still loves his iPod a little too much but is keen to pick up his book without a push from me.
"Hey Mom, there's this vine..."
Lily: Her anxiety seems to have calmed during the day but bedtime isn't fun right now. She is very concerned with "am I ok?" "am I going to die" "do you think the vein above my eye is extra purple?" "was it a good day" Honestly, it's exhausting but I'm trying my best to just reassure and love. She used to hit the pillow and be out within minutes but not right now. She is insistent that I sit or lay down next to her and hold her hand for a few minutes. So much worry. She can go about the day with all her usual craziness (she really is a fantastic little lady) then we get to bedtime and she is alone with her thoughts and things get ugly. I encourage the best thoughts, try to get her to imagine different things but her worries take over. I have chatted about this with other moms with older kids and heard from several that their kids did the same thing and it will pass. I hope it does but until then I will be there to support and try my best to get her through.
"They should've shot the deputy."
Lovely photographs of your children, your Son looks so thoughtful and I love her smile in the last one she looks like she's having fun xx #LivingArrows
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics....and it is so lovely to see a child who likes to read....
ReplyDeleteHoping that your girl finds that nighttime peace she needs....my 10 year old does most of his thinking and questioning at bedtime....I think it is the time where all other distractions are removed and there head becomes a little less noisy...sounds like you are being the good mumma for her and reassuring her.
