Last week Neil and I got trapped on Vancouver Island. We were actually on the ferry from Little River headed home after four days in Victoria and then about 20 minutes in, the captain announced that they were turning around due to some problem with the thruster. What it ended up meaning is that we were stranded an extra two nights (the ferry didn't run the whole next day). While it was a bummer, we had a lovely place to stay (my Uncle's place is the copper house pictured above), the weather was superb and the area we were in was alive with gorgeous fall colour. We really had nothing to complain about other than wanting to be home to squeeze the kids and dogs and sleep in our own bed. Everything was so beautiful. Red, gold and green at every turn. As you can see, we spent a lot of time outside taking pictures. We did go to Starbucks for wifi and to get some work/homework done but there was a lot of walks and good food and togetherness which was much needed. Sometimes the unexpected can turn into a really great thing.
