December's SAMESPOT reflects our mild temperatures and a very typical wintertime day in Coastal BC. Fortunately for Jackson who seems to only want to wear hoodies, a coat is often not even necessary. Powell River mirrors Vancouver in terms of weather most days. December has been particularly mild with a couple of crazy storms mixed in with a ton of sunshiney days and a lot of grey ones. We didn't enjoy a white Christmas and actually haven't seen even a tease of the white stuff since late November. This has been a fun project which I hope to continue in 2015 only with improved skills at getting the kids in the actual same spot every month!! ☺

#SAMESPOT - November
Better late than never! Taken just as the sun was setting with my iPhone on the last day of November. It's certainly not the greatest shot but thankfully I did remember to take it just not to post it. The trees are losing their leaves fast but the weather has been super mild so still no need for heavy coats or boots. I think it'll be a green Christmas as usual - very typical here in Powell River.
I still can't believe we are halfway through December already and this project is almost complete. Look for a wrap up and a December SAMESPOT soon.

#SAMESPOT - October
Taken on the last day of October, before the sun came out and made for the perfect Hallowe'en Day. The leaves have changed a lot and are slowly disappearing. October was wet and didn't give us many nice days to go out for walks and really enjoy the colour that fall brings. Fingers crossed November is a little kinder. Jack and Lily still growing like weeds, pictured here in their costumes ready to party!

#SAMESPOT September
Basking in the light of the warm afternoon sunshine still beach ready and happy. Summer just gave and gave straight into September this year and we enjoyed every moment of it. The leaves are starting to change now and soon we will put away the shorts and sandals for another season. Well actually Jackson will probably still be wearing shorts in November but that's ok. As sad as I am to say goodbye to another amazing summer, fall colour and sweater weather thrill me.

#SAMESPOT August
Sunkissed happy kids loving each other and the warmth of mid-August. I can never give enough gratitude to summer. We are blessed beyond words to live and enjoy life like we do. The trees are still so bushy and green but soon we will see the colours of fall light up this road.
How lucky we are!

#SAMESPOT July
I took this photo on the 31st around 7:30pm, not the best time of day to showcase the area. July flew by at lightening speed. Summer has been very good to us so far and the goodness doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. You can see just beyond the kids that the road has been oiled to stop the dust. The trees are still lush considering the tremendous lack of rain and the kids are happy and enjoying the easy pace of summertime, glowing with tanned skinned having been kissed by the sun. Beach days are pleantiful.

#SAMESPOT June
6 months into this project and lots of changes. Jackson can stop growing anytime! We are all enjoying the warmer weather, especially the days with blue skies and Simpson clouds and lots of beach time. The trees to Gibsons are full and lush and most days the road is a dust bowl if you drive too fast up or down it to the ocean. There isn't much better than summer.
Below are the last 6 months #SAMESPOT photos. As you can see, I'm not the most consistent person but I've improved and for sure will have this perfected before December!☺

#SAMESPOT May
May's #SAMESPOT photo shows very obvious growth in the trees and a little bit of height for both kids. This month has brought with it warmer days and the end of heavier clothing. Shoes, especially for Lily and I, have been swapped for sandals and flips. Jackson no longer wears long pants and probably won't again until late September. The kids have already enjoyed several dips in the ocean and a couple lakes around town. More time outside in the sunshine is welcome. Summer is almost here and we are oh so ready for it.

#SAMESPOT April
April's #samespot shows a whole lot more green and lighter clothing. The temperature has definitely changed. I took Jack and Lily's photo on a slightly overcast day. The one below was taken when the sun was shining bright in the sky showing off the appley/lime green shade of the new growth leaves on the poplars. Across the water just behind Harwood Island, you can still see snow capping the mountains of Vancouver Island. What will May bring? More green, less snow, a haircut for Jackson? Time will tell.

#SAMESPOT MARCH
I just can't seem to get the exact same spot but really this angle is my favourite. I will try harder next month! March has been full of all sorts of weather, often on the same day. While there hasn't been any more snow, it is still cold enough to have to lite the woodstove every night. Typical of Powell River, there has been LOADS of rain but honestly I feel like we've had lots of sunshine mixed in there too. As you can see, the branches are now sporting some leaves. Things are only going to get better. And seriously...how big is Jackson looking?!?!? Slow it down my boy. Please.

#SAMESPOT FEBRUARY
This month bits of snow litter the sides of the road to Gibsons Beach. The white stuff came and went quickly as it always does here in PR. Unfortunately that meant no opportunity to get a photo of the kids with the snow like the one below I took on the way into work one day without them. I already look forward to taking a photo for March which will surely include some buds on those bare branches. Linking up again with Heart+Habit #SAMESPOTCALENDAR.

#SAMESPOT, JANUARY
This is the road down to Gibson's Beach taken today, January 31, 2014. It was unseasonably warm and gorgeous with clear blue skies and loads of sunshine. This was just after 4 in the afternoon and the kids are still in the jammies as it was Literacy/pj Day at school today. You can see Harwood peaking on your right and further beyond the snow capped mountains of Vancouver Island. This is one of my favourite spots in PR and the perfect spot to showcase the (slight) change in seasons here.
