10 on 10 - Early November in Black & White

RIP Leonard Cohen...

 10 days in and so far November has been gray and windy and rainy and moody. It feels heavy for more reasons than the election across the border although that is pure craziness and so scary to me. Leaves are littering the ground, beaches are empty other than signs of dogs at play, our local ice cream shop has been boarded up for the season and there are ads for upcoming craft fairs all over the place. Exciting things are coming but it still feels blue. On Sunday we will travel to Disneyland. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to blue skies and sunshine and the escape - seven days of no worries other than what we will do that day to have fun. I'm hoping we won't feel an effects from Tuesday's results and that Disney will still be the happiest place on earth. Fingers crossed.

Jackson: On top of Factory training for hockey, 3 on 3 hockey and his own ball games, my busy boy decided to volunteer himself to Ump the younger kids baseball games.  All the hockey is coming to an end very soon so he pushed for a golf membership to fill his time. Active he is and as crazy as his schedule can be sometimes, I'm so glad he loves to be busy.   


Lily: Her class had their first puberty talk at school this week. She came home with her "package" stuffed way down in her in backpack and hurried me to her room when she got home to show me and discuss it all. She could hardly believe they would give them pads already and couldn't get over all the stuff in the accompanying booklet. I had a little cry after we talked, once again struggling to keep up with these kids who are growing so quickly. :) I do hope that she will always be comfortable talking to me about anything and everything as she is right now. We are headed to some interesting years. 

The photo of Jack & Lily below was taken in my grade 7 classroom of my old elementary school. It was shut down around 1986 and is now owned by friends of mine who very kindly opened the place up for a tour for myself, my family and several old elementary school friends. Lots of great memories filled my head as we strolled through the school and I was so glad my kids could get in there and have a look around with me.

10 on 10 - a Pro D day well spent

I've meant to do this every month for at least a year but this is really and truly the first time I've ever remembered to actually take 10 photos on the 10th of the month! Today the kids had their final Pro D day of the school year and I had the day off so we made the most of the mid-week free time . When I imagined doing this last night, I intended on taking certain photos throughout the day but things never seem to go as planned in my life. It was a lovely day all the same but just not what I thought it would be. Breakfast, some play, the beach, snacks, supper at my parents, some time on the trampoline complete with dishsoap, a movie (San Andreas which the boys LOVED) followed by a lovely sunset. It was friend filled, with lots of great food and finished off with a pretty view - what more could we want for?
