Cut Flowers from the Yard
Fresh flowers on my table make me happy. Free fresh flowers on my table make me even happier. We didn't plant all the tulips that pop up every Spring but I'm sure thrilled when they arrive. My MIL always brings over a bouquet or two of lilacs from her huge tree and then following that, Lily of the Valley bloom in the backyard. All these keep me going for well over a month and then our local Farmer's Market begins for the season and I usually go there once a weekend and find a lovely bouquet. What can I say? Flowers on my table are my guilty weekly pleasure. It costs nothing when you pick your own from your yard and not much when buying from the market. They bring me cheer and I won't stop. :)

"a portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2019"
Jackson: I took this photo as he walked away from me to drop his bags in his friends family vehicle before they took him away for 8 days to Mexico. He's currently living it up on the beaches of Mazatlan. It was tough for me to say goodbye but he's been doing as I asked and sending me pictures everyday with lots of texts. I'm glad he's having such a good time.
Lily: My girl has been a great sport (and shoulder to cry on when I said goodbye) while her brother is away. I felt the need to get out of town, so we dropped her bro off in Vancouver then headed south to Washington State where we met one of our besties and some cousins to see the flowers in Mount Vernon, to shop in Lynwood and check out Pike Place and the Troll downtown Seattle. Scroll down to see all the pics. We are back in Vancouver where we have met up with Neil who is here for meetings. We are staying at the Hyatt downtown for a couple more days before we head home to get some stuff done before Jackson returns. It's been a great Spring Break so far.

Dahlia love
There's a sweet man who lives up the road from me who grows dahlias. Mr. DeGroot LOVES and knows just about all you need to know about his flowers including the individual names of each and every one of them. A stop to pick up flowers always includes a little visit as we wander around his yard while he picks the most perfect bouquet. He is very particular about his babies and about which flowers are good and which aren't. His yard is a sea of colourful blooms and I will never pass his property without smiling. I'm sad I didn't discover his dahlia sales until we moved south of town but now that I know, he is a weekly stop for me.
