Tofino

Last weekend we headed to Tofino for a couple of nights to help an old friend celebrate 40. We met up in Qualicum at Island Surf to rent wet suits and surfboards then made a pit stop in Port Alberni before carrying on the long and windy road to Tofino. Neil and I were last there we think about 23 years ago so it all felt completely new to us. I forgot how seriously AMAZING the trees are as you drive through Cathedral Grove and also how shitty the road is once you get passed Port Alberni.

We stayed in a HUGE house right on Chesterman Beach. It comfortably slept 14 of us with a couple beds not used. A few other families stayed just down the beach and met up for surfing, meals and fires. We ate (and ate and ate), drank and played til late in the evening. I love to travel with other families. While there weren't too many little girls around for Lily, she's pretty easy to please and also happy to play on her own. Jackson is a whole other ball game and loved having friends around to keep him busy. He tried surfing for the first time ever and although he thought it was cool and fun, he was just as happy to skim and boogie board. Lily stuck to the boogie boarding. Our two nights/three days were well spent. When we arrived on Friday, the sun was high in the sky, the beach inviting even though the wind was chilly. Saturday morning we woke up to clouds which burned off by lunchtime. Chesterman Beach is stunning especially in the sunshine. How lucky were we to visit and have such an wonderful weekend! Thank again my dearest Kristen for the invite and to Coen for turning 40 and giving us a reason to all get together. I can't wait to return!

Joining with Jenn again this week.

  1. Looks like a stunning place! Certainly for surfers. How is the water there now, must be quite cold? #PhotoFriday

    1. The water was far too cold for me but the kids didn't mind it all with their wetsuits on. My husband did run in and dunk with just his bathing suit on and commented how refreshing it felt. Thanks for visiting again!
