Week 47

Once again, time ran from me. Fortunately I got the shots but just didn't make the time to blog them. 

Week 46 shows a Jackson who was not in the mood for photos. I think it was an off week for us all. He still took the pics but wasn't thrilled to do it. I suspect I will see more and more of that as he gets older. I'm already wondering how next year will play out. It'll probably be time for me to call it a day with his weekly pics especially come June when he graduates. Time will tell I guess. 

The photo of Lily is from a little outing we took to our local fish hatchery. The salmon are spawning and while it tends to be stinky, I love to go and watch nature doing its thing.

Week 47. Jackson sent me this selfie from the gym. He's been working out daily and loves it. Makes me so proud of him and it's awesome that he can drive himself to and from and go when he pleases. 

The sea lions have returned to one of our local beaches. I could go down every single day to watch. I mentioned stinky fish in week 46 but that smell doesn't even come close to the one the lions have permeated the beach with. Lily lasted about as long as it took to take this picture then returned to the car to watch them with nicer air

Jackson & Lily: Fulfilling their Mama's wish to take pics at the pumpkin patch. I love my kids! Look for a bigger post very soon with tons of photos. 💗

Jackson: He dressed for pictures but didn't actually go trick or treating this year. Lots of kids his age still go out but he decided against it. He joined us to go to both grandparents houses (and to light a few fireworks off) but then went his own way. He went to a buddies place with a bunch of others and they lit off fireworks and had hot dogs and treats. It was the right choice and he came home with a smile on his face but I did feel a little sad because he's so old already. 

Lily: Mary Poppins had a super night and came home with too much loot as usual. So many people were delighted to see her happy costume. I offered to take her umbrella several times during the night but she was keen to play the part til the end.

Jackson: Sporting another one of his Dad's old shirts. He's loving having some very different options to chose from that no one else has. Seems so crazy to me. He also fits his Dad's shoes so his choices are endless. 

Lily: Finally getting to the end of the latest The Land of Stories book An Author's Odyssey that she started in the summer. She quit reading it when she picked up Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. I'm so glad she likes to escape in a book.

Jackson & Lily: The icy temperatures here mean some of the local and not so local lakes have frozen over. This thrills the kids, particularly Jackson who has dreamed of skating and playing hockey outside since he was very small. He skated afterschool one day on a local lake and this weekend we traveled 10km up a logging road to find snow and another frozen lake. I'm so happy for my boy. He's hopeful this cold will continue so he can return and play some more. Fingers crossed.

Jackson: this blurry iPhone shot was taken around 7am Saturday morning. We were just about to say goodbye for the day/night before Jackson got into another vehicle to travel to Victoria with his team for hockey. Just Jack & I rode to town to drop him off that morning and it usually takes around 15 minutes from our place to town. I always like to be the one to see him off when he travels without us. Silly Love Songs came on the radio and we talked about going to the Paul McCartney concert the 4 of us. I told him we were so lucky to have seen him and he and Lily extremely lucky to say that their first concert ever was Sir Paul's. Then just as Paul sang " I love you" my beautiful boy taps my arm and points to his eye, crosses his arms then points at me. I always struggle to send him away without us but now he'd pushed me to tears. He's such a kind, sensitive and loving 10 year old.  He has this tough guy hockey exterior and he's a much bigger guy then many in his age group but deep down he's pretty damn amazing. I cried the rest of the journey to town til we hit the Tim Horton's drive thru to buy a treat for the ferry and we realized we'd forgotten his lunch in the fridge at home which meant we needed to scramble fast to get something together for his trip. 

I'm so very proud of him and the great little big man he is. 

Lily: loving the snow that fell this weekend and all the time 

she got to spend with her girlfriends while her bro was away.
